1. How do I register with Modern Family Focus?

If you wish to register with Modern Family Focus click on the form / application button on our page.  You will need to print the appropriate form and mail it to PO Box 440, Waverley 2024.

2. What ages are the carers?

All carers at Modern Family Focus are 18yrs and over.  Carers are required to hold a qualification in relation to their employment or have at least 2 years experience working with children.  We also require three (3) reference checks one of which is a professional reference.  All carers must have a clear ‘Working with Children Check’ and permanent carers must hold a first aid certificate.

3. What accommodation should I provide (for live-in positions)?

The accommodation you provide for your carer should be comfortable.  Employees should have their own bedroom with appropriate furniture.  This can be within the family house or be a private dwelling.  They require access to food preparations areas, a bathroom and should share common areas with the family.  Amenities such as TV and stereo are not a requirement but can be a lovely addition.

4. What is the placement period for a carer?

The placement period will vary depending on the service you require.  Permanent carers are generally asked to commit to a 12 month period.  Most carers stay with the same family for years and maintain long lasting relationships.  I have known carers to stay with the same family for up to12 years.

5. What replacement guarantee do I have?

A 3 month probation period will apply for permanent placements.  If during that period the client finds that the candidate is unsuitable for the position taken, MFF will find a suitable replacement candidate, once only, at no additional fee.

6. How do I book for a casual or babysitting?

Simply call our office on 9326 4111 to book this service.  Please try to allow 3 days’ notice.  The placement fee is payable to Modern Family Focus Pty Ltd at the time of booking.  The carer is paid directly for their time.

7. Can I book for a regular service?

Yes, we can arrange this for you.  If you like a particular carer, tell us!  We will do our best to arrange for him/her to come to you for each care session so that you, your children and your carer feel more comfortable with a familiar setting and consistency in the care being provided.

8. How much should I pay a carer?

Deciding how much you pay a carer depends on the experience, qualifications, responsibilities, hours, number of children and the conditions of employment you require.  Carers are asked to state their salary expectations when filling out their application form as a guide for matching carers.  This can be negotiated!

Permanent live out carers start at $15/hr and can be paid up to $35/hr depending on your family needs and the carer’s expertise.
Au pairs salaries start at $12/hr - $18 for the hours worked, plus room and board.
Casual carers and Babysitters range from $15-$25/hr.  The availability of carers can often determines the rate.
Overnight/weekend care is a set rate that is negotiated between the family and the carer.  This service starts at $150 for a 12 hr nighttime period.

Remember, experienced, qualified carers are highly sought after and are in high demand their rate of pay will refect this.
If you require suggested pay for other services or require further assistance in your decision making process feel free to contact our office.
