Modern Family Focus P/L takes pride in assisting you to find carers that are suitable, competent and comply with our comprehensive screening process. Carers are only registered with Modern Family Focus after going through an extensive process to ensure optimum care solutions are found for you. 

The screening process includes a face-to-face interview to determine if the applicants are suitable for the job and to assess if they are capable of dealing with a variety of scenarios that may arise during their employment. 

Carers complete a detailed application form so we are able to best determine each person’s skill levels, strengths, interests, capabilities, values, personality and previous experience.  This assists us in matching the carer with what matters most to you and your family.

Modern Family Focus screens suitable applicants using ‘The Working With Children Check’ to ensure they do NOT have:

• Relevant criminal records
• Relevant apprehended violence orders

Or

• Relevant employment proceedings

Modern Family Focus will also contact a minimum of 3 referees with in-depth questioning in relation to the candidates’ abilities, prior knowledge, experience and personality to gain a greater picture of their suitability.  The information gathered will be recorded and kept onsite and secure.

Carers must:

• Have a passion for working with children
• Hold a qualification in relation to their employment or have at least 2 years’ experience with children in the selected age group
• Provide three (3) phone references one of which is a professional reference
• Hold a first aid certificate (permanent placements only)
• Have a clear ‘Working with Children Check’
• Provide identification

In order to maintain a high level of professionalism and quality of service Modern Family Focus takes time and diligence in checking all applicants to ensure only suitable candidates are referred for your consideration.

What Happens Next?

Modern Family Focus takes into consideration the information provided and gathered from all sources and selects only the most suitable and capable candidates for you to meet.  We focus on the needs of your family and what matters most to you! 

Once the registration fee of $55 is paid, Modern Family Focus will provide you with information to assist you with the interviewing process and important matters that we recommend you and your carer agree upon prior to employment.

We will contact you to arrange a time for the applicant/s to meet you and your family.  This is an important time for you, the carer and your children to meet and truly get to know each other on a personal level.  Decide beforehand what you want and need and ensure the carer meets your requirements.  Be clear, truthful and work towards a positive partnership with your carer. 

Once you select a carer for your family and inform us of your decision, we will contact the carer to ensure there is a mutual interest in the position. 

Prior to your selected candidate commencing their employment, we will supply you with a ‘Focus Care Kit’ containing important and useful information for you and your carer as well as employment information.  We aim to make this process as easy as possible for you, so please contact our office for assistance at any time.
